How to recognise 10 tonne duplex Web sling? 10 tonne Duplex Web Slings are colour coded grey, manufactured from 120 mm wide polyester webbing with ten black yarn stripes to denote working load limit.

What are 10 tonne Duplex web slings?  The maximum lifting capacity of sling is 10 tonne or 10,000Kgs, manufactured as a double layer sling, from 300mm wide polyester webbing, with large reinforced eyes each end and are woven from high tenacity polyester yarn. Each sling has an identification label sewn into the webbing, which gives the user vital information on the capabilities of the sling and each sling is supplied with a unique serial number for traceability.

Why use a Duplex Lifting sling? They are low weight compared to either chain slings or wire rope slings and more flexible, making them easier to use than chain slings or wire rope Slings. Another plus point for using webbing slings, they give significant improvements in safety over alternative lifting methods and lower purchasing costs in comparison to other lifting gear.

The advantage of buying Miller Weblift slings from ULS means you get a high quality sling made from hard wearing 100% polyester fibres (PES) manufactured to the correct internationally recognised standards (EN1492-1:2000) and supplied with manufacturers EC Declaration of Conformity.

They have their own weaving facility on site in the UK meaning traceability and quality control is very high and it also gives them the ability to manufacture bespoke lifting slings up to 50 tonnes. Duplex Flat Web Slings or belt slings or straps are used for a variety of lifting purposes.

SLING SAFETY
ALWAYS
Store and handle slings / lashings correctly.
Inspect slings / lashings and accessories before use and before placing into storage.
Position the flat sling so that the load is uniformly spread over its width and protects the sling from sharp edges.
Use protection and fittings on a round sling (to avoid cutting, friction etc...)
Apply the correct mode factor for slinging arrangement

NEVER
Attempt to shorten, knot or tie any slings / lashings.
Expose slings / lashings to direct heat or flames.
Use slings / lashings at temperatures above 100 ̊C or below -40ºC
Expose slings / lashings to chemicals without consulting the supplier
Shock load slings.
Use flat slings which are cut or have loose or damaged stitching
Use round slings with cut or damaged outer covers.

In the UK, the Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) make it clear that all Polyester Lifting Slings are classed as lifting accessories. They should therefore be subject to a thorough examination by a competent person at least every six months. Regardless of the prevailing legislation, the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) strongly recommends that this policy is adopted by all those with responsibility for ensuring the safe condition of lifting equipment.
