How to measure an endless roundsling. when ordering Endless Polyester Roundslings care must be taken when selecting the length of sling required. all slings supplied by Ultimate Lifting Solutions are measured by the Effective Working Length or EWL. If you are replacing an old sling, then it is simple to find the EWL, Lay the sling out on the floor, and measure the sling in a single straight line. (See image below)

What is EWL? - Effective Working Load - Lay a sling out flat on the floor - measure how long it is - this is the Length of our slings, the EWL - the opposite method of measuring a sling, again lay it out on floor, but this time measure from a starting point all the way round, and finish at the starting point, you have measured all the way around the sling - hence the circumference.

How are Roundsling formed? Standard round slings are made up as two parts :-

INNER - This is where the strength hides, the inner core is the load bearing part of the sling, made up of a hank of quality / strong yarn , woven endlessly together to form the endless sling - The second part of the sling is the external sling -

OUTER - This protective cover is also manufactured from high quality polyester, it is non load bearing as it only intended for protection and contamination of the core.

Limitations of using Polyester round Slings - Round slings however are less robust and more liable to damage than equivalent slings manufactured from wire or chain - Therefore, more care needs to be taken for the rigger when using round slings, and its why you should always buy good quality round slings like these that have quality outer sleeving that helps extend the life of the sling itself.
